Art of Hannah McClure

Hello!

I'm Hannah! I also go by Art. I'm an independent artist and theatrical technician. I love tabletop roleplaying games, indie video games, and most anything in the horror genre.

I work in many mediums, primarily pencil work, watercolors, and gouache, but I have also done a lot of digital experimental work as well! I am currently in the process of updating my commissions page, which should be open soon. Most of my art involves adapting TTRPG content or original works, which is often concept design, character design, and clothing mechanics. I'm always trying to learn new mediums as well, and I'm very hands-on, even making scale model kits in my spare time.

My other major artistic hobby is re-creating Pre-17th Century historical manuscripts, using methods the same as/similar to period practices of the time. This medium includes paint making, plaster gilding, calligraphic techniques, vellum prepping, and many other facets of manuscript creation. I work through the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) to create these pieces for awards and honors.

I hold a Master's Certification in Textile Collections Management, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatrical Costume and Prop Design, and a few Associates in Fine Arts and Liberal Arts. This set of degrees may look disparate, but together they inform my specific interest in how much of a character's personality can be conveyed by clothing and sense of style alone, down to the smallest of details. These experiences have also given me the ability to re-create garments, or be informed enough to perform condition assessment and repairs on older materials. I have a deep familiarity with garment construction from my BFA, both historical and contemporary, which has given me comprehensive experience in several time periods' clothing styles.
